The Philippine Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (PSMFM) hosted another Regional Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminar last August 18, 2026, at Hilltop Mimosa in Clark, Angeles, Pampanga, in partnership with the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) – Central Luzon Chapter. The morning event brought together 204 medical professionals to address critical clinical diagnostic and management strategies under the theme “Triple Threats in Pregnancy: Preeclampsia, Diabetes, and Anti-Phospholipid Antibody Syndrome.”
The program officially commenced with opening remarks from PSMFM President Dr. Irene B. Quinio, followed by a welcome address from POGS Region III Director Dr. Agnes Lourdes D. Fernando. Dr. Antonette Joyce Espiritu-Salazar, PSMFM Region III Director, outlined the course overview and introduced the panel of expert speakers before the technical sessions.
The core lecture lineup featured clinical insights into Maternal-Fetal high-risk conditions. Dr. Ritchie B. Ilagan opened the educational sessions with “Preeclampsia Revisited,” delivering critical updates on diagnosing and managing Preeclampsia. This was followed by Dr. Sherri Ann L. Suplido presenting the nuances of severe and complex Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) in her forum entitled “When GDM Gets Complicated.” The focus then shifted to autoimmune and immunological complications, with Dr. Nina Nonette P. Diansuy presenting “The Faces of APAS: Recognizing It’s Different Presentations” and Dr. Frances Lorraine Laxamana-Silvestre, an Internal Medicine/Immunologist Specialist detailing the “Basics of Reproductive Immunology and APAS in Pregnancy.” Dr. Glaiza Santillan-Semblante moderated the interactive open forums, allowing delegates to discuss and clarify complex clinical cases directly with the specialists.
Following an industry-sponsored lecture by Dr. Tina Marie R. Valeriano-Trinidad, certificates of appreciation were presented to the resource speakers. The seminar concluded with closing remarks delivered by POGS Region III (Central Luzon) President Dr. Marlene R. Javier and PSMFM Vice-President Dr. Sherri Ann L. Suplido, leading into a fellowship lunch for all the attendees.
