FOR MEMBERS

MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

The Membership in this society shall be limited to obstetricians of good professional standing, who have a major interest and devote significant portions of their practice and/or research to maternal fetal medicine, and who meet the criteria of the appropriate membership categories as delineated below.

Membership of the PSMFM is voluntary and shall consist of the following Membership categories: Active Members and Honorary members. The qualifications for the different categories of membership are:

  1. Active Member – Active membership shall consist of certified diplomates and fellows of the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) who:
    1. have undergone an accredited fellowship training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine for 2 years
    2. have passed the certifying examinations, namely, written, oral and practical given by the Philippine Board of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
    3. have applied for and have been approved and accepted by the Committee on Credentials and Membership and the Board of Trustees

Founding members are considered active members.

To maintain active membership, a member shall comply with the duties and the responsibilities as provided for in Section 4 of this chapter.

  1. Honorary Member – Honorary membership maybe bestowed upon individuals who, in the opinion of the Society, are deserving of the special recognition by virtue of exceptional contributions either to the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine or to the Philippine Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (PSMFM).An Honorary member shall not pay dues and shall neither have the right to vote nor hold an elected office. Any member of the society can nominate individuals to be an Honorary member , which will be reviewed and approved by the Council of Advisers and the Board of Trustees

RIGHTS OF MEMBERS

Members of the Society, except the Honorary members, shall have every right and privilege:

  1. To exercise the right to vote on all matters relating to the affairs of the Society
  2. To be eligible to any elective or appointive office of the Society, if duly qualified
  3. To participate in all deliberations and meetings of the Society as required by the Board of Trustees
  4. To examine all the records and books of the Society during Business Meetings
  5. To receive benefits as provided for in the Mutual Assistance Program
  6. To enjoy such other rights and privileges as may be granted him/her from time to time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS

A member, unless otherwise provided for by these By-Laws, shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. To obey and comply with the By-Laws, and such rules and regulations as may be promulgated by the Society in order to attain its stated purposes
  2. To attend at least two (2) Annual conventions in three consecutive years
  3. To pay the dues, fees and other assessments annually as may be levied upon the membership by the Board of Trustees

To conduct himself in a manner consistent with the tenets and principles of the Code of Medical Ethics of the Medical profession in the Philippines

BENEFITS

MUTUAL ASSISTANCE FUND (MAF)

The Mutual Assistance Fund (MAF) aims to provide financial assistance “as a token” to members in times of disabilities or sickness or to the heirs of the deceased member . This is not a health insurance investment. Death or Sickness benefits cover only a minimum range of amount in pesos depending on the years of active status with membership of good standing. The MAF is PHP 500.00 each year.

DUES

PSMFM ANNUAL DUES

The PSMSM Annual Membership dues is being required on each member to ensure continued and active status in our society. The funds being collected will be pooled together with other sponsorship projects that will fund our yearly activities such as the rotating Fellow’s Forum among the different training institutions, the Annual Interesting Case and Research Contests of our Fellows and maintenance of our Office at the POGS building and our website. This will encourage and facilitate continued connection and interaction among our members. The annual dues is PHP 2000.00 each year.
