Fellows Retreat 2026

The fourth annual Philippine Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (PSMFM) Fellows’ Retreat was held last March 5–6, 2026 at the Westgrove Hotel and Resort, bringing together fellows-in-training and consultants from the accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship training institutions across the country. The event aimed to strengthen camaraderie, promote wellness, and foster professional development among members of the fellowship community.

The program formally opened with opening remarks from Dr. Irene Quinio, President of the Philippine Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, followed by welcome remarks from Ms. Gelai Pineda of Corbridge. The day’s activities featured a mix of educational sessions, wellness activities, and opportunities for reflection and dialogue among fellows and mentors.

Dr. Catherine Joie Carelle Ong delivered a talk on “Life After Fellowship,” sharing insights on career development and professional transition after training. This was followed by an engaging open forum where fellows were able to ask questions and exchange experiences with senior consultants. Dr. Antonio Alejandro Rebosa discussed “Preventing Medical Malpractice,” providing practical guidance on risk management and professional responsibility in clinical practice. The afternoon ended with a wellness session led by Ms. Yka Sebastian which introduced participants to yoga and mindfulness practices, highlighting the importance of self-care and balance in medical practice.

Dr. Sherri Ann Suplido, Vice President of the Philippine Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine gave the closing remarks. While, the day concluded with a fellowship dinner and social night, allowing participants to further strengthen friendships and professional networks in a relaxed setting.

The Fellows’ retreat once again served as a valuable opportunity for fellows and consultants to build lasting connections, reflect on their personal and professional journey, and reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing maternal-fetal medicine in the Philippines.

A total of 9 members of the Board of Trustees, 15 consultants and 52 fellows-in-training participated in this year’s retreat, representing the accredited fellowship training institutions.
