The PSMFM collaborated with the Perinatal Association of the Philippines (PAP) and Philippine Society of Newborn Medicine (PSNbM) last April 11, 2026 for a conference at Tondo Medical Center to further strengthen our thrust to improve maternal and fetal welfare in the Philippines by enhancing point-of-care knowledge of midwives.<\/p>\n

The program was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Dr. Maria Conchita Bandong, President of the PAP, gave the opening remarks, followed by Dr. Irene Quinio, President of the PSMFM, who gave the welcome remarks for the morning session. Dr. Ma. Gemma Datu-Fulgado lectured on Practical Preterm Labor Care, From Signs to Action. While, Dr. Manbee Gene Granada lectured on the Basic Guidelines on Intrapartum Fetal Monitoring (FIGO Concensus), followed by the cardiotocography workshop with Dr. Ebby Eunika Rebugio and Dr. Catherine Hui Tin Lim as Facilitators.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jacinto Blas Mantaring III gave the welcome remarks for the afternoon session, followed by the Modified Neonatal Resuscitation hands-on workshop with activity stations including Early Intrapartum Newborn Care (EINC), Breastfeeding, Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV), and Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). These were accomplished under the guidance of the following facilitators: Dr. Suzette Diploma-Aldana, Dr. Anne Kathryn Siazon-Soriano, Dr. Rizza Elaine Daez, Dr. Keight Arren Anacan, Dr. Chelsea Vicarez-Palogan, Dr. Genevieve Abuan-Danan, Dr. Janelle Margaux Logronio, Dr. Anna Barbara Paez, Dr. Marlene Hatol-Catapia, Dr. Hazel Ann David, Dr. Riza Mae Cruz, and Dr. Maria Cecilia Sunga-Matias. The activity culminated with a post test. Dr. Maribel Emma Co-Hidalgo, Vice-President of the PAP, gave the closing remarks.<\/p>\n

This activity highlights the importance of our concerted efforts to ensure the improvement of maternal, fetal and neonatal well-being from pre-natal to post-natal care.<\/p>\n<\/div>
